Short impression of Sally Banes interviewing - Alex Hay, Trisha Brown and Robert Rauschenberg:
They are placed in Robert Rauschenbergs Loft in New York; on the long side of a big kitchen-table. The film is from 1981; black and white. Robert Rauschenberg in tidy cloth is laughing – descending the sincerity of the questioner’s voice. Trisha Brown sits in an office chair – turning from side to side, nodding her head softly, -both repetitive - and while talking, turning her wrists the same way she does in some of her famous dances. Alex Hay is sitting between the two; drawn back, curved, not expressive, introverted. He says the less. Theme of the interview is the Judson Dance Theater. I see them remembering. Being concentrated on experiences. “Judson was: pure ideas. A lot of things just did not seem to be problems “, Rauschenberg says. Sally asks: How did you support your lives? A noticeable change in space. Everything gets quiet. Trisha says that she was working in an insurance office, typing. And: selling furniture. Some activity of that job, she used as a score. “It kept me from crying”, she says. Alex Hay is joining in, straitening his back just a little. His face becoming a bit more color as he answers the job-question with a sad but energetic: “A lot of things!”
Sharing the house2013-2015 fabrik und LABORATORIUM Potsdam
